B. DEVELOPMENT MANAGER ROLE

The Role

Win the projects. Build the pipeline.

Lead a Business Development team at Blackmont Consulting, and own how your branch finds and secures its client work.

Why Blackmont

Blackmont Consulting is a student-led consulting organisation founded in 2020. We deliver rigorous, insight-driven pro bono advisory work for startups, nonprofits and growing organisations across multiple markets, and we develop the next generation of consultants while doing it. None of it happens without projects. Business Development is where it starts.

The role

As Business Development Manager, you lead the team that secures your branch's projects. You set the outreach strategy, coach your team through every stage from first message to signed agreement, and make sure the pipeline never runs dry. You work closely with the Branch Manager and our global Business Development leadership, so every project we win is one our consultants can learn from and deliver well.

What you will gain

  • Experience leading a team through a full cycle, from prospecting to closing

  • Direct exposure to our global leadership team

  • Hands-on practice in outreach, proposals, negotiation and client relationships

  • A formal letter of recommendation on successful completion

  • Clear progression opportunities within Blackmont

  • An international network of ambitious students and professionals

  • Fully remote and flexible, so it fits around your studies

What you will do

  • Lead and coach your branch's Business Development team

  • Set monthly targets and keep your team on track to secure projects

  • Guide your team through outreach, discovery meetings, proposals and agreements

  • Review proposals and prepare each project for final approval

  • Track pipeline and performance, and report on progress

  • Share what works with other branches and the global team

Who we are looking for

  • Someone with practical experience in business development, sales, partnerships or client engagement

  • A confident communicator who is comfortable pitching to senior decision-makers

  • A natural leader who can motivate and coach a team

  • Someone organised, persistent and driven by results

  • Someone who can commit to a minimum of six months, at around 3 hours per week

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in consulting, a student society or a start-up

  • Experience managing or mentoring people

Good to know

This is a voluntary, non-remunerated programme, designed for students who want practical leadership, sales and management experience in a global remote consulting organisation.
